Francesco Prevosti

Francesco was born in Varese on 25 June 1956. His interest in Buddhism began in 1970 studying Zen philosophy and the Japanese schools.

In 1977 he helped to establish several Buddhist centres, including the Lama Tsong Khapa Institute in Pomaia near Pisa, the Nalanda monastery in France and Albagnano Healing Meditation Centre. Since then, he has worked actively in the team translating sacred texts and in the graphic design of the publications.

He met and became a disciple of Lama Yeshe and Lama Zopa, who were among the first Tibetan masters to come to the west.

Francesco lived in monastic vows from 1979 to 1992. During these years he received many teachings of Sutra and Tantra and empowerments from the great Lamas of the four schools of Tibetan Buddhism, including H.H. XIV Dalai Lama, H.H. Panchen Lama, Trijang Dorje Chang, Kyabje Ling Rinpoche, Kyabje Song Rinpoche, H.H. Sakya Trizin and many others.

He met Lama Gangchen Rinpoche in 1985 and became his photographer and video operator, personal translator in Italian and on many occasions in French and Portuguese, too.

Over the years, he has been many times on pilgrimage to sacred Buddhist places in India, Nepal, Indonesia, Tibet, China, Sikkim, Sri Lanka, and he has completed many meditation rereats under the direct guide of his masters.

He has been studying Indian sideral astrology and Chinese-Tibetan astrology in relation to Buddhist teachings for over 15 years. Francesco has held conferences and courses on Buddhist philosophy and Lama Gangchen's NgalSo Tantric Self Healing practice in Mongolia, Russia, Nepal, Brasil, Malaysia, India, Indonesia, France, Italy and Switzerland in Italian, English, Portuguese and French.

He presently teaches and guides meditations, retreats together with the Tekchen Sojon transmission of the 8 Mahayana Precepts, study and discussion groups on Buddhist subjects, Lam Rim, NgalSo Self Healing at the Kunpen Lama Gangchen in Milan and at the Albagnano Healing Meditation Centre, where he is president of the managing association, and he takes parts in several groups of inter-religious meetings in the spirit of Lama Gangchen's life work.
