Leonardo - Duccio - Ceglie

"I am Leonardo, Duccio to my friends, and I was born in 1954 in Bari, Italy. I met Lama Gangchen at Pomaia (Pisa) in 1984 during his first visit to the Lama Tsong Khapa Institute.

For that occasion, I made a present for him: a small canvas depicting a Buddha. Rinpoche smiled and not only accepted the painting, but immediately commissioned another. He asked me to paint a blue Buddha, the Medicine Buddha. Satisfied by my work, he asked me for another, much bigger, Medicine Buddha - he wanted a giant blue Buddha! When I returned with the gigantic Buddha, he asked me to paint Buddha Shakyamunye... and so I kept on painting, and Rinpoche kept on commissioning ever more new and different Tankas of Deities.

I began to follow the Lama in his frequent pilgrimages to Tibet, Nepal, India and Mongolia, in Europe, Russia, China, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Brasil... taking advantage of all occasions to widen my knowledge of sacred Tibetan painting. In 1993 Lama Gangchen began to teach NgalSo Tantric Self Healing. It was while collaborating in making the necessary drawings for the book "Self Healing II" (edited by L.G. Peace Publications) that I began to think of the possibility of teaching how to paint the Buddha with this method that makes it easy to approach Tibetan painting and Tantra".
