Lama Gangchen Foundation for a Peace Culture

This not-for-profit apolitical Foundation was established in Italy on 25 January 2005. Its activities are undertaken in Italy and elsewhere and its aim is to promote Buddhist philosophy.

In particular, the Foundation proposes to:

disseminate, promote and honour Buddhist philosophy and ideals which are inspired by principles of compassion, non-violence, inner and world peace and charity, with inter-cultural respect among peoples;

promote and carry out humanitarian, economic and supportive actions in favour of the populations of the third and fourth worlds, with the aim to create the pre-conditions for diffusing an authentic culture of peace and cooperation among peoples;

implement initiatives to protect and value nature and the environment, in order to promote and spread a compatible culture of sustainable development;

spread the "Culture of Peace" through humanitarian cooperation, volunteer work, environmental education, spirituality, support for developing countries, and through United Nations programmes;

use agricultural land and woodland for socio-cultural aims and develop activities of social and cultural interest: activities for the disabled, laboratories (for handicrafts, agricultural produce etc), develop initiatives related to non formal peace education, dialogue among religions and safeguarding the environment.

In order to reach these objectives, the Foundation proposes to initiate all forms of cooperation with public and private institutions which do not contrast with the nature of the Foundation.
