NgalSo Self Healing
Siddharta Gautama, the Buddha, began his spiritual research from a medical perspective: he wanted to cut the roots of the suffering he was witness to, so he searched for its causes and then found the remedies. The same principle motivates all research in scientific medicine, but at the time science did not exist and explanations of the world were given by religion and philosophy, so his findings were accepted as a new religion, that is, Buddhism.
In his research, Siddharta discovered that the mind is the cause of all, both happiness and suffering. We are usually unable to to reach our most desired goal, happiness, whilst we continuously accumulate the causes for increasing suffering. If we turn our mind in the right direction, we can get out of this vicious circle. The direction is the way of Self Healing.
NgalSo Self Healing has its origins in the teachings of Siddharta. It is an ancient method that Lama Gangchen Rinpoche has "re-packaged" so that we can benefit from its positive effects, relax and relieve ourselves of today's stressful life. NgalSo is a Tibetan word made of two syllables: "Ngal" means the negative side of the inner and outer worlds (illness, tiredness, pollution etc) that we must purify. "So" is the positive side, all the favourable energies and qualities that we must heal and increment.
On a practical level, Self Healing is a very versatile instrument: it can be used both as a therapy and as a diagnostic method. It can be used as a supportive therapy in medical treatments and facilitate healing after physical or mental traumas. Even five minutes practice of Self Healing each day enables us to maintain mental harmony and a general sense of wellbeing throughout the day. It is a healing practice so it does not require either faith or religious conversion. Everyone can use it at any moment.
Naturally, for lasting and profound results it must be practised seriously and constantly, just like any other therapeutic method, but even occasional use will produce some benefits.
It is a complete system comprising several therapies: the therapies of mudra (gestures), concentration, breathing, opening energy blockages, seed-syllables, colours, symbols, visualisations, elements and sounds. It is a very profound and complex system, but it can also be used at a very simple level during our busy days.
We usually use the many precious elements in our body and mind in the wrong way, which is the reason for all our suffering and the obstacles and difficulties that we encounter. We can heal ourselves deeply with NgalSo Self Healing and simultaneously take care of the environment that we live in.
The inner mandala
We all know that our body has muscular, nervous, lymphatic and circulatory systems. We know them because they concern the gross, visible level. But at a subtle level we have another system, well-known to acupuncture therapists and tantric practitioners: the invisible system of subtle channels through which our vital energies flow.
The most important one is the central channel, which goes from the top of our head down to the pelvis, with two thinner channels on either side that twist around the central channel at five points. These five points are very important, they are the five main chakras of our body: the secret chakra (so-called because it is in the genital region), the navel chakra, the heart chakra, the throat and crown chakras. A number of channels spread out from each chakra, splitting over and over again to create the subtle system in which the vital energy circulates. This is the basic structure of our inner mandala.
The subtle winds, that Tibetans call the "horse of the mind" are the vehicles of the gross, subtle and very subtle mind. Through practising meditation, it is possible to learn to recognise this inner mandala and find the blockages. In our materialistic society, no one thinks of their subtle body because it cannot be seen or touched, and what is "invisible" is not considered to be important. But, in fact, the most important thing we can do is to take care of it because it means the difference between good and ill health, happiness and suffering. NgalSo Self Healing is the easiest, fastest and efficient way to heal our inner mandala.
Tantra
In the past, visitors to Tibet were amazed by the nature of the population: in such a harsh, difficult environment, they were happy people. The reason? Because they put into practice the methods of Buddhist science of the mind in their daily life, thus alleviating any difficulties. Their life was integrated with the spiritual practice that gave them mental stability and great joy.
The stories and myths surrounding mysterious and magical Tibet often distract attention from a strange fact: that in such a backward country, so many eminent personalities evolved, reaching the highest levels of philosophical, psychological and spiritual studies. So evolved that they fascinate intellectuals and great Western scientists, like Einstein, and hold the world enthralled.
How can this be? The answer can be found in the practice of Tantra. Nowadays there is a great deal of confusion and wrong information about these practices, so an explanation is needed (There will be more details about Tibetan Tantra on this website).
Tantra is not a game of sexual freedom! Tibetan monks hold the vow of chastity and many are great tantric practitioners.
Today's liberating techniques are often just a way to escape the world and society. But running away cannot be a solution to the problems of modern society: problems in relationships, or rather the lack of relationships, loneliness and violence caused by feeling abandoned.
On the contrary, the essence of Tantra is complete communion, never feeling alone; the whole universe becomes an experience of compassionate love, warm welcome, joy.
With Tantra, NgalSo Self Healing is an efficient rapid therapeutic system that makes use of archetypal symbols to transform the mind in a positive way. The reason for its efficiency and rapidity is that it uses all life experiences, including those we think are out of our control (like death or dreams): life itself becomes a liberating path to total healing (enlightenment is the traditional term). It can be defined as a spiritual path, but that is just a name - medicine and psychology also follow a healing road, albeit with different objectives.
